Royalty Operations & Process Development Manager
Universal Music is the market leader in the music business. The world’s most famous music labels are part of us. We have been writing music history for over 100 years representing numerous local and international artists across all genres. Our accomplishments are driven by our love for music, extraordinary artists, and our ambitious teams.
At Universal Music Sweden, we continuously develop our ways of working to better serve our artists and rights holders to further expand our presence in the entertainment industry. Our royalty team is integral to this mission.
With immediate start, we are looking for a Royalty Operations & Process Development Manager to join our Royalty team in Stockholm. This role combines hands-on royalty operations with ownership of processes and continuous improvement. It is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, systems, and complex workflows – and who wants to help shape smarter ways of working in a core function of the music business.
About the Role
In this role, your core responsibility is to ensure accurate and timely royalty accounting and settlements to artists and rights holders. You will be part of a strong team where collaboration and shared responsibility are key, while also taking individual ownership of processes and results.
Beyond the operational work, we are looking for someone who is results-driven and solution-oriented, with a genuine interest in technology, data, and process optimization. You are motivated by improving how things are done and enjoy working with large datasets, systems, and analytical tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day royalty operations, including royalty calculations and artist settlements
- Ensure high data quality through reconciliations, validations, and follow-up
- Participate in period-end closing and royalty-related analyses
- Take ownership of royalty-related processes and continuously improve workflows and routines
- Identify opportunities for automation, digitalization, and efficiency gains
- Work with large volumes of data and contribute to reporting and analysis
- Collaborate closely within the Royalty team and with Finance and Legal & Business Affairs
- Actively contribute to team development and knowledge sharing
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education is required, preferably in finance, business administration, law, information systems, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in an operational or finance-related role is an advantage
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Strong technical understanding and interest in data and systems; experience with BI tools is highly valued
- Experience from SAP FI-CO / SAP Business Objects / Microsoft A4O is a plus, but not a requirement
- Fluency in English and Swedish, both written and spoken
We value relevant experience and system knowledge; however, the right mindset, curiosity, and approach to work are the most important factors for success in this role.
Your abilities and personality:
- You are results-driven, solution-oriented, and motivated by improving how things are done
- You enjoy working in a team and contributing to shared goals and outcomes
- You are comfortable working hands-on with operational processes and large data sets
- You have a genuine interest in systems, data, and technology
- You take ownership, responsibility, and follow tasks through to completion
And that’s how we are:
- We are a team with a constant desire to advance the Universal Music project and to venture into new territory
- In our business it is important to make good decisions quickly: We count on proactive employees who think ahead and find uncomplicated solutions
- We love to communicate openly across all hierarchies and teams
- Diversity and tolerance – human and musical – are important to us
The position is permanent (with a 6-month probationary period). The position is fully on-site at our Stockholm office (no remote work).
If you are excited about royalty operations, data, and improving how things are done in a collaborative team environment – we would love to hear from you.
We are looking forward to your application!
